A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF APACHE JUNCTION, ARIZONA, HONORING THE VETERANS AND
THE ACTIVE DUTY SERVICES OF THE UNITED STATES OF
AMERICA BY CREATING A DISPLAY OF FLAGS TO BE LOCATED AT
THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF APACHE TRAIL AND NORTH APACHE
TRAIL.
munmiks,in 2000 the Mayor and City Council established a
temporary Trail of Flags to fly the United States flag along Apache
Trail within the city limits on select days of the year; and
WHEREAS, in 2001 and 2004 the Mayor and City Council expanded
the original temporary Trail of Flags by adding additional dates
and flags representing each of the states; and
WHEREAS, throughout all of these actions the Mayor and City
Council were aware that future improvements to Apache Trail could
result in the discontinuing of the temporary Trail of Flags; and
WHEREAS,the Mayor and City Council wish to establish a
permanent display of flags honoring our veterans and the branches
of the active duty services of the United States.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and City Council
of the City of Apache Junction, Arizona, that the temporary Trail
of Flags be discontinued and replaced with a permanent display of
seven flagpoles to be relocated at the northwest corner of Apache
Trail and North Apache Trail and that these flagpoles fly the flags
of the United States of America, the State of Arizona, the U.S.
Army, The U.S. Marine Corps, The U.S. Navy, The U.S. Air Force and
the U.S. Coast Guard and be in compliance with State law regarding
the display of the Prisoner of War/Missing in Action flag.

APACHE JUNCTION, ARIZONA, THIS RD DAY OF APRIL ,2012.
