A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR R AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF APACHE JUNCTION, ARI ONA, ("APACHE JUNCTION"') ,
LOCATED IN THE COUNTIES OF MARICOPA AND PINAL, CALLING
IN
AND ORDERING A SPECIAL ELECTION IN EACH COUNTY TO BE
HELD ON NOVEMBER 4, 2025, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING
TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS CAP APACHE JUNCTIONTHE
QUESTION OF CHANGING THE MAYORAL TERM OF OFFICE FROM TWO
YEARS TO FOUR YEARS.
WHEREAS, in 1978, upon incorporation of the city, four-year
staggered terms of office for members of the city council and
two-year teem for the mayor were created n
WHEREAS, the mayor and city council now desire to submit to
the qualified electors of Apache Junction the question of whether
to change the mayoral term of office from a two--year terry to a
four-year term as authorized byA.R.S. § 9-232.02; and
WHEREAS, the mayor and city council desire to call a special
election to be held on November 4, 2025 for that question.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR OR AND CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION A ZONA, AS FOLLOWS:
1 ) That there be a call for a special election on November 4,
5 for the reason set forth below,
) That the following n proposed change to the City of Apache
Junction clay code be submitted to the qualified electors of
the City of Apache Junction, Arizona, to determine ine whether
the mayor' s term of office shall be increased from two years
to four years, effective with the mayoral term of office
beginning inn can January 5, 2027.

Junction mayor be changed from two years to filar years, effective
with the mayoral terra of office beginning on January 5, 2027.
A "YES" vote shall have the effect of changing the mayoral term of
office to a fir-year term.
"No" vote shall have the effect of Leaving the mayoral term of
office as a two-year terry

That the qualified electors favoring the proposed increase in
the mayoral term of office to foul years shall vats ,YES" and
the qualified electors opposing the proposed increase in the
mayoral term of office shall vote "No"
4) That if a majority of the qualified electors vote in favor of
the proposed increased mayoral term of office, cite staff is
authorized to present for city council approval an ordinance
amending the City of Apache Junction City Code, Vol. I
Chapter 2, Art . 21 2-1-1. ( ) , to reflect the care;
5) That the city clerk, through the city manager and on behalf
of the Apache Junction city council, shall: cause through the
election departments of Maricopa County and Final County, to
provide all necessary services for conducting the special
election.
That the city clerk, through the cite manager and can behalf
of the Apache Junction city council, shall contract with
suitable vendor to print and mail- the publicity pamphlet that
mist be sent to the qualified electors of Apache Junction
before the special election as required by A.R.S. § 1' 1.2 .
7) That arguments supporting or opposing the question to be
submitted to the graters in the special election be published
in the publicity pamphlet and he filed with the city clerk in
the mariner provided for in A.R.S. §§ 1 124 and 19-141 n
later than 5:00 PM on August 6, 2025
