A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO.
98-15,THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE CROSSROADS
REDEVELOPMENT AREA PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY
COUNCIL ON MAY 19,1998; RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. 06-
23,THE APPROVAL OF THE DOWNTOWN IMPLEMENTATION PLAN
FOR THE CROSSROADS REDEVELOPMENT AREA,PASSED AND
ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON JUNE 6,2006;AND
RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO.13-35,REAFFIRMING THE
CROSSROADS REDEVELOPMENT AREA AND PLAN,PASSED AND
ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON NOVEMBER 19, 2013.
WHEREAS,Title 36,Chapter 12,Article 3 of the Arizona
Revised Statutes ("A.R.S.")provides for the redevelopment of
certain areas within municipalities; and
WHEREAS,A.R.S.Title 36,Chapter 12,Article 3 was
significantly amended by legislative action in 1997; and
WHEREAS,such amendments provided for greater flexibility
for municipalities in the administration of redevelopment areas;
and
WHEREAS,the amendments generally benefit the City of
Apache Junction ("City")in the administration of redevelopment
areas; and
WHEREAS,on May 19,1998,the City passed and adopted
Resolution No.98-15, which created the Crossroads Redevelopment
Area ("CRA"); and
WHEREAS,on July 7,1998,the City passed and adopted
Resolution No. 98-20, which approved the initial CRA Plan; and
WHEREAS,on June 6,2006,the City passed and adopted
Resolution No.06-23,which approved an updated plan for the
CRA; and
WHEREAS,on November 19,2013,the City passed and adopted
Resolution No.13-35,which reaffirmed the CRA and the revised
plan; and

WHEREAS,the City held a work session o n the proposed
rescission o f Resolution Nos.98-15,06-23 and 13-35 o n April
16,2018;and
WHEREAS,rescinding the CRA and its associated plan will
allow an updated redevelopment area and plan (known as the "Old
West Highway Redevelopment Area" and its associated plan)to be
established which better reflects the boundaries i n which
current conditions o f blight and slum exist and clarifies the
development goals and objectives.
NOW,THEREFORE,B E I T RESOLVED B Y THE MAYOR AND CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA AS FOLLOWS:
1)The mayor and city council rescind Resolution Nos.98-15,
06-23,and 13-35,and that they be replaced with Resolution No.
18-12,the Old West Highway Redevelopment Area and Old West
Highway Redevelopment Area Plan,a s passed and adopted under
Resolution No.18-13 o n May 1,2018,and May 1,2018,
respectively.
