A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
O F APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,ADOPTING A CITY VISION
AND MISSION STATEMENT.
WHEREAS,it is common for municipalities to establish a
vision and mission statement to describe its desirable future
direction and to define the role of the organization,
respectively; and
WHEREAS,the mayor and city council adopted a vision
statement as part of the City of Apache Junction general plan in
2010; and
WHEREAS,the mayor and city council had a desire to update
the vision and mission statements in 2017; and
WHEREAS,the mayor and city council received input from
residents and other stakeholders on vision and mission
statements at the town hall held on September 15,2017,
discussed the constructs of those statements at a special city
council work session on October 20,2017,received input from
the Apache Junction Youth Advisory Council,discussed finalizing
language at the March 6,2018 city council meeting and at the
March 19,2018 city council work session,and on March 20,2018
provided direction to staff for this resolution.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION ARIZONA, AS FOLLOWS:
1)The mayor and city council hereby adopts the following
vision statement:
Apache Junction is a diverse community of natural beauty
and heritage that offers prosperity, compassion and forward
thinking to its residents, businesses and visitors.
2)The mayor and city council hereby adopts the following
mission statement:
We will focus on and invest in quality of life and planned
improvements for serving residents,businesses and
visitors.
