EMERGENCY SPECIAL MEETING
JUNE 4, 1981
An emergency special meeting of the City Council of the City of Apache Junction,Arizona,was held on June 4,1981,at the Apache Junction Council Chambers pursuant
to notice required by law.
CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Pro Tern Jimmy Eidson
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
The Council and public participated in the Pledge of Allegiance.

ACCEPTANCE OF THE AGENDA
)Councilman Damiano MOVED THAT
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION, ARIZONA,
THAT THE AGENDA BE ACCEPTED AS PRESENTED.
Councilman Steelsmith secondedthe motion.
VOTE:Unanimous
The motion carried.
OLD BUSINESS
Prior to accepting nominationsfor the office of Mayor,Mayor Pro Tern Eidson MOVED THAT THE MEETING BE RECESSED
INTO AN EXECUTIVE SESSION FOR THE PURPOSE OF DISCUSSING PERSONNEL MATTERS.
Councilman Shanks seconded
the motion.
VOTE:Unanimous
The motion carried.
A roll call vote was conducted on the nomination for the office of Mayor
of Wendell Clarke.
VOTE:In favor -Councilman Damiano
Councilman Steel smith
Councilman Clarke
Councilman Hudson
Councilman Hill
Councilman Shanks
Abstain -Councilman Eidson
The motion carried.
Mayor Emeritus Virginia Seeman presented the gavel to Apache Junction's
new Mayor,Wendell Clarke, congratulated him and wished him well.
Councilman Damiano congratulated the new Mayor and thanked Couricilman Hillfor the courage and good -sportsmanship he displayed by withdrawing his name fromconsiderationfor the office.
Mayor Clarke received his oath of office from City Clerk Marlis Davis and
assumed his position as Mayor in order that he might chair the rest of the meeting.
NOMINATIONS FOR VICE MAYOR ..................
)Mayor Clarke opened the
meeting for nominations for the office of Vice Mayor for the City of Apache Junction.
Councilman Norman Hill was nominated for the position.

Councilman Eidson
Councilman Steel smith
Abstain -Councilman Shanks
The motion carried.
City Clerk Marlis Davis administered the oath of office of Vice Mayor
to the newly elected Vice Mayor.
ADJOURNMENT
) There being no further
business Mayor Clarke adjourned the meeting at 7:30 p.m.
