SPECIAL JOINT MEETING

Mayor Clarke suggested that the Airport Commission and Industrial
Development Authority always hold joint meetings.Mr.Wright and Mr.
Drummond stated that this would not be in the City's best interests,as
both Commissions have completely different areas of discussion.
Mr.Wright stated that the Industrial Development Authority wished
to start a liaison with the Airport Commission,to promote working together
in the same direction.
Mr.Wright stated that the Industrial Development Authority would like
to get the K Mart project going.
Mr.John Drummond stated that the Airport Commission is showing filmpresentationsto educate the community on the airport project and otherprojects.The deadline is 1983 for Federal funding for the beginning ofthe Airport.This is the date the runway should be started.
Mr.Sam Gardom requested that if Baseline Road would be made into a
main highway,it would help promote industry.Another main highway would
make i t easier for industry to move to Apache Junction,as there is too muchwintertrafficon A ache Trail statin the freewa ma never be extended to
