SPECIAL MEETING
AUGUST 26,1982
The special meeting of the City Council of the City of Apache Junction,
Arizona,was held on August 26,1982, at the Apache Junction Council Chambers
pursuant to the notice required by law.
CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Clarke called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Councilman Damiano,Mayor Clarke
Councilman Hudson conference)
Vice Mayor Hill (vacation)
Airport Commission Chairman Priscilla
Gardner,outlined some of the reasons an airport is necessary to Apache
Junction and its growth.
Councilman Damiano stated that i t is his
wish that the Airport Commission continue with the Airport plans,but not take
any action until the FAA and Governor's Task Force reach a decision.
Councilman Steelsmith agreed,stating that
no progress can be accomplished until FAA approval is received.
Councilman Eidson expressed his opinion that
Apache Junction may not be ready for an airport,but that study will need to be
done to determine the need.
City Clerk Kathleen Connelly stated that
the application for petitions to place the airport issue on the election ballot,
had been taken out.I f returned,the actual petitions would be ready in a week.
Ms Donna Felts,organizer for a pro -airport
group expressed her opinion that Apache Junction needs an airport and asked
that citizens join the group to further the cause.
Mr.Larry Kluth,Airport Military Affairs
Chairman, answered several questions regarding the proposed airport.
City Manager James Tuvell asked that if the
Task Force invited Apache Junction representatives to meet with them regardingthe airport would the Council like the representatives to be the Airport
Commission members,staff members,or Councilmembers?
Mr.C.O.Brandt requested that the Council
