SPECIAL MEETING
MARCH 15,1983
The special meeting of the City Council of the City of Apache Junction,
Arizona,was held on March 15,1983, at the Apache Junction City Council
Chambers pursuant to the notice required by law.
PROPOSED RESOLUTION NO.83-07,LOCAL
ALTERNATIVE EXPENDITURE LIMITATION )
)Councilman Damiano MOVED THAT BE IT
RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION, ARIZONA,
THAT RESOLUTION NO.83-07,A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,PINAL AND MARICOPA COUNTIES,ARIZONA,PROPOSING A
LOCAL ALTERNATIVE EXPENDITURE LIMITATION FOR THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,BE
AND HEREBY IS APPROVED AND ADOPTED.
Councilman Steelsmith seconded the
motion.
Mayor Clarke commented that in the
event that this is approved for Apache Junction,the million dollars should be
used in the repair of the city streets,with a percentage to go to publicprotectionandservices.
Councilman Steelsmith agreed withthisstatement.
City Manager Tuvell stated that
36 cities in Arizona have put this home rule option to a vote,and 35 have
adopted this alternative.
Controller Keith Lewis stated that
the City has $800000.00 at a interest rate of 7%,with a total of $5,000.00.
Mr.Tuvell informed the Councilthat$1 million is the projection for the end of the year.
Councilman Damiano commented that the
rnoney:shauCrd be put to use and not just be used to draw interest.
Councilman Eidson agreed that the
money could be put to necessary uses.
VOTE:Unanimous
The motion carried.
ADJOURNMENT

RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION, ARIZONA,
THAT THE MEETING BE ADJOURNED AT 9:30 P.M.
Vice Mayor Hill seconded the motion.
