HomeMy WebLinkAbout1983-06-27 City Council Special MinutesCITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING JUNE 27,1983 The special meeting of the City Council of the City of Apache Junction, Arizona,was held on June 27,1983, at the Apache Junction City Council Chambers pursuant to the notice required by law. CALL TO ORDER Mayor Clarke called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. INVOCATION Councilman Shanks led the Invocation. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Councilman Hill led the Pledge of Allegiance. ROLL CALL Councilmen Present:Councilman Hill,Councilman Steelsmith,CouncilmanTaylor,Councilman Shanks, Mayor Clarke Councilmen Absent:Councilman Damiano Vice Mayor Eidson Staff Present:City Manager J.James Tuvell,Jr.City Clerk Kathleen ConnellyDirectorofPublicSafetyBillMcDaniel Controller Keith Lewis Others Present:Wendy Derzawiec,reporter Apache Junction News CALL TO THE PUBLIC None. CITY MANAGER'S REPORT None. PUBLIC HEARINGS Mr.Tuvell further explained that staff recommends emphasis be placed upon using the funds for one-time capital expenditures,and asked i f there were any questions. Mayor Clarke asked i f there was anyone who wished to speak in favor of or in opposition to this item. There being no one wishing to address the Council,Mayor Clarke closed thehearingtothepublic. Councilman Shanks MOVED THAT BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION, ARIZONA,THAT THE PROPOSED USES FOR FEDERAL REVENUE SHARING FUNDS FOR FISCAL YEAR 1983-84,BE APPROVED AS PRESENTED. Councilman Steelsmith seconded the motion. VOTE:Unanimous The motion carried. PROPOSED RESOLUTION NO.83-46, FINAL BUDGET ADOPTION ) Mayor Clarke opened the hearing to the public. Mr.Tuvell stated that the Apache Junction Code requires that the City Manager present to the Council a proposed budget for each fiscal year,with public hearings,and the final budget submitted represents the changes in the tentative budget which was adopted by the Council on June 7,1983. Mayor Clarke asked i f there was anyone who wished to speak in favor of or in opposition to the item.There being no one wishing to address the Council,Mayor Clarke closed the hearing to the public. Councilman Taylor MOVED THAT BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION, ARIZONA,THAT RESOLUTION NO.83-46,A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION, ARIZONA,FULLY ADOPTING ESTIMATES OF PROPOSED EXPENDITURES BY THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JULY 1, 1983,AND ENDING JUNE 30,1984;DECLARING THAT SUCH SHALL ESTABLISH THE BUDGET OF THE CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION FOR SUCH FISCAL YEAR,BE AND HEREBY IS APPROVED AND ADOPTED. Councilman Steelsmith seconded the motion. VOTE:Unanimous The motion carried. REQUESTS OF COUNCIL Mayor Clarke stated that an individual has been speaking out of line toCityemployees, and requested that the City Manager take action that this does not continue.
