SPECIAL MEETING
JUNE 11,1986
The special meeting of the City Council of the City of Apache Junction,
Arizona,was held on June 11,1986,at the Apache Junction City Council Chambers
pursuant to the notice required by law.
CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Hill called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

PROPOSED RESOLUTION NO.86-21,TENTATIVE
BUDGET ADOPTION,FISCAL YEAR 1986-87
--)City Manager Michael J.McNulty
briefed the Council on the proposed 1986-87 budget,and explained that should
the Council wish to add to the budget,a subtraction must be made in another
area and that there is more than necessary in the Contingency Fund for that
purpose,and than the Council may adopt a tentative budget for publication and
final adoption at a later date.
Mr.McNulty further stated that the
City has received a request from the Gerontology Research Foundation for a grant
of $25,000,which is actually for the next fiscal year.
Mr.Jon Allison explained that the
Community Foundation has received three requests for funding,and recommended
the Gerontology Research Foundation grant request.
Mr.John Granillo,930 E.Desert
Avenue,Apache Junction,addressed the Council outlining the purpose of the
Gerontology Research Foundation.
Ms Virginia Seeman also addressed
the Council in regards to the Gerontology Research Foundation.
Councilmembers discussed changes in
the proposed budget.
Councilwoman Taylor MOVED THAT THE
TENTATIVE BUDGET ADOPTION FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1986-87,BE POSTPONED UNTIL JUNE
25,1986,AT 7:00 P.M.
Councilman Eidson seconded the
motion.

Councilman Jimenez MOVED THAT
RESOLUTION NO.86-21,A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,FOR THE ADOPTION OF THE TENTATIVE BUDGET FOR THE CITY
OF APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1986-87,HEREWITH SETTING FORTH
THE TENTATIVE ESTIMATES OF THE MONIES NECESSARY FOR THE PUBLIC EXPENSES OF THE
CITY OF APACHE JUNCTION,ARIZONA,FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1986-87,AND GIVING NOTICE
OF THE TIME AND PLACE FOR HEARING TAXPAYERS FOR THE ADOPTION OF THE FINAL
BUDGET,BE APPROVED AND ADOPTED WITH THE FOLLOWING AMENDMENTS:
ADDITION:
LAND LEASE $4,000 CAAG $1,145 SALARY STUDY $15,000 AUTOMOBILES $39,750
ADMINISTRATION_ASSISTANT $27,265 GERONOLOGY GRANT $25,000 SHELTER $1,000 WORD
PROCESSOR SYSTEM $15,000 (FEDERAL REVENUE SHARING)
DELETIONS:
YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD $30,000 LEGAL FEES $50,000
Councilwoman Gardner seconded the
motion.
Councilwoman Taylor expressed her
feeling that this meeting should be postponed until the entire Council can be
present.
VOTE:In Favor:Councilwoman Gardner,Councilman Jimenez,Mayor Hill
Opposed:Councilwoman Taylor,Councilman Eidson
The motion carried.
Councilwoman Gardner MOVED THAT A
SPECIAL MEETING BE HELD ON JUNE 26,1986,AT 6:00 P.M.,IN THE CITY COUNCIL
CHAMBERS,FOR THE PURPOSE OF FINAL BUDGET ADOPTION.
Councilman Jimenez seconded the
motion.
VOTE:In Favor:Councilwoman Gardner,Councilman Jimenez,Mayor Hill
Opposed:Councilman Eidson,Councilwoman Taylor
The motion carried.
ADJOURNMENT
)There being no further business,
Mayor Hill adjourned the meeting at 8:33 p.m.
